We Gather

Last year, I found myself longing more than ever for a place where I could be all of myself. I know what that when I am wholly E, there are no obstacles that I can’t surmount. I was learning that though I could survive by centering myself in the tiny worlds I had created, I wanted to thrive outside of that. That required me to reach out to my sister-friends.

I decided to create a space where people, who needed the same escape to recuperate and grow that I did, could do that without having to fuss about the logistics. I wanted to provide freedom for people like me to work and play in a community where they wouldn’t have to ask for the authority to be themselves.

“Without community, there is no liberation...but community must not mean a shedding of our differences, nor the pathetic pretense that these differences do not exist.” - Audre Lorde

Where Should We Meet?

How does the old saying go? “It’s all about the location” or was it “Location, location, location”? Either way, when I started this, I understood that the question “where should we meet?” is one of the most important things that I would have to answer. The places we choose to meet do half of the work of solidifying the purpose of the gathering.

I met my sister-friends in the desert. We got out of the cities where we had the pressures of our everyday and the desert gave us a blank slate to be absolutely nothing or everything we needed to be.

So where should WE meet next?
