March Movie Drop
Black Women and Girls Have Stories to Tell
March is Women’s History Month and March 1st is Black Women’s Appreciation Day. Black Film Club centers Black stories made by Black creators, but even within this demographic, it must be stated that Black women deserve specificity when it comes to highlighting and sharing stories and work.
The movie this month is a story about a Black teenage girl that was created by a Black woman, directed by a Black woman and had Black women in the producers room. Selah and the Spades follows a senior in a boarding school who is the leader of the drug ring and is searching for the balance between her life as a student, her life as a daughter and solidifying her legacy.
