Love Can Bring Us Back

What does freedom look like to you? The great Nina Simone once said that freedom to her is no fear. I cannot mentally escape from what’s currently happening in the world. All the uncertainty that we are facing with the impending election and spike in the COVID cases has me, for lack of a better word, T E R R I F I E D. If I use the definition of freedom that Nina spoke, I would conclude that I am anything but free. But I am learning to live with the fears and carry on. To me, moving despite the fear uncertainty is freedom.

The movie this month is a documentary about how love transcends the evil of the prison industrial complex that plagues the Black communities in this country. Fox Rich weaves together the story of her life through film for her husband Rich who was imprisoned for 60 years for robbery. You can watch Time on Amazon Prime.
